Etsy permanent suspension appeal: the free checklist

For sellers whose IP reports were withdrawn or listings restored, but whose shop is still permanently suspended. Source-linked to Etsy’s own Help Center, verified 2026-11-08.

Complete · No signup · No email gate · Nothing held back
Disclosure, up front: this page is published by Recovery Desk, which sells a paid appeal document-preparation service. The checklist below is complete on its own. You do not need to buy anything, sign up, or contact us to use it. All facts are linked to official Etsy sources at the bottom.

The one thing most people get wrong

Etsy Legal is not the reinstatement channel. Legal handles the IP notices. The decision about your account is made through the Appeals Center at etsy.com/appeals, where you sign in to the suspended account and file the appeal. Emailing, live chat and waiting on a Legal reply do not start that process.

If your reports were withdrawn and your listings restored, you are in a better position than most: Etsy’s article says to file an appeal after you have resolved the issues that led to the suspension. That is precisely the situation you are in — as long as every withdrawal is actually acknowledged on their side.

Before you file: eligibility and deadline

Pre-submission checklist

  1. Every IP report is withdrawn and acknowledged by Etsy — a withdrawal you submitted but Etsy never processed is not yet resolved. Note the reference and dates.
  2. All affected listings show as restored, and no remaining listing violates the IP Policy, Prohibited Items Policy or Creativity Standards.
  3. No open cases and no outstanding billing balance on the account.
  4. You have the original suspension email with “permanently suspended” in the subject line and body. If the email asks you to reply once the problem is fixed, that is a temporary suspension — reply to the email instead.
  5. A dated timeline exists: each notice → who filed it → withdrawal confirmation → listing reinstatement.
  6. Every fact in the appeal is one you can document. Nothing guessed, nothing reconstructed, nothing back-dated.
  7. You have read the House Rules, because the appeal asks how your practices will change.

The four fields the Appeals Center asks for

Etsy’s article lists these steps: sign in, choose the reason, add the actions taken, add how your practices will change, add documents, then submit. Write each section before you open the form.

  1. Reason for the appeal. Choose the closest reason; Other lets you type your own. Keep it factual and short.
  2. Actions you have taken to address the issues. The dated timeline, the withdrawal confirmations, the reinstated listings, and any process you fixed. Attach the documents and reference them by name.
  3. How your practices will change if you regain access. A concrete control with an owner and a cadence — for example how new designs are cleared for IP before listing — not a promise to “do better”.
  4. Supporting documents. One indexed bundle: withdrawal confirmations, reinstatement notices, the suspension email, and your timeline. Etsy asks you to be transparent and forthcoming.

Keep one consistent, factual account across every field and every attachment. Etsy asks you to be transparent and forthcoming about what caused the suspension and what you did about it.

What not to do

After you submit

A specialist reviews the appeal and your account history and replies with a final decision over email. Etsy says it can take up to two weeks because of the complexity of these investigations. Check your spam folder. If the decision is that the account stays permanently closed, Etsy says that is final.

Questions

Is this legal advice?

No. This is a factual summary of Etsy's own published process with links to the source articles. Verify everything on Etsy's site before you submit, and talk to a qualified lawyer if you need legal advice.

Does filing an appeal get my shop back?

No. Etsy explicitly says submitting an appeal does not guarantee reinstatement. It ensures a qualified specialist reviews your account history and information. The decision is delivered by email.

How long do I have, and how long does a decision take?

Etsy says you have six months from the day of suspension to file. After filing, a specialist can take up to two weeks to reply with a final decision over email.

What if my appeal is unsuccessful?

Etsy says a decision that the account stays permanently closed is final, with no further consideration of reinstatement. That is why the first complete submission matters so much.

Do I need to pay anyone to do this?

No. Everything you need is on this page and in the linked official Etsy articles. The paid service on the main site only writes the four documents for you from a short intake; it does not contact Etsy and cannot change the outcome.

Who publishes this page?

Recovery Desk publishes it, and Recovery Desk sells a paid document-preparation service. That is the full commercial relationship. This checklist is complete, has no email gate, and does not require a purchase.

Want someone else to write the four documents?

Recovery Desk prepares the appeal letter, Plan of Action, evidence checklist and submission guide from a short intake, delivered in 30 minutes. Fixed prices: $29 / $79 / $149. Document preparation only — we never contact Etsy, never create or alter documents, and no outcome is guaranteed.

If you would rather do it yourself, everything above is enough. That is the whole point of this page.
